For decades, Photonis has been an essential development partner in providing innovative solutions for space applications. Photonis' support of the exploration missions in space is unparalleled. We have partnered with industry leaders, researchers and space agencies around the world to create innovative custom solutions to focus or collimate X-rays, identify compositions of asteroids and planetary atmospheres, observe behaviours of weather, solar winds and auroras, categorise solar flares and discover distant planets, gamma ray bursts, black holes, and galaxies.
Photonis MCPs are integrated in the COS UV spectrometer on the Hubble Space Telescope and inside 8 instruments in orbit around Jupiter on NASA’s JUNO space probe (i.e. in JADE-E1-E2-E3, JADE-I, JEDI-1-2-3 and UVS). Furthermore, ESA’s BepiColombo interplanetary mission to Mercury has MCPs inside 9 instruments, (i.e. inside MEA-1, MEA-2, MIA, MSA, HEP-ion, ENA, PHEBUS, ELENA and PICAM). Additionally, our MPOs are applied inside 2 instruments, the MIX-T X-ray fluorescence imager and the MIX-C X-ray collimator. Currently our MCPs are being integrated in several instruments of ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moons explorer JUICE.
We have been awarded both by NASA and ESA and have been honoured to witness our products launch into space to begin their missions, knowing our products will provide science data and contribute to new discoveries for many years - even decades - to come.
