Armasuisse chooses 4G night vision

Photonis announces that Armasuisse choose 4G image intensifier tubes to modernize the night vision equipment of the Swiss Armed Forces. With the choice of Armasuisse for 4G Photonis will strengthen its market position as main supplier of high performance image intensifier tubes in Europe.

With the choice of Photonis’ 4G image intensifier tubes, Switzerland made their choice for this state of-the art image intensifier like many other European countries. This night vision modernization program is part of the Swiss ‘Armeebotschaft 2019’ and is one of the larger night vision projects in Europe recently. Within this project Photonis is selected together with Safran Vectronix to deliver more than 8.000 NYX night vision bino goggles for the Swiss Armed Forces.

The goggles will be equipped with 18 mm high performance 4G image intensifier tubes through a four-year program. This technology increases the ability to locate and engage threats and to operate in all night conditions. The 4G standard is the latest technology in intensified night vision and is specifically designed to address the stringent requirements of special forces operators and only 4G can offer ultra-fast Auto-Gating, the smallest halo and unrivalled spectral range from ultraviolet to near infrared. 4G provides an edge over adversaries in the darkest nights, in all terrain and operations and operators can gain from the best DRI range possible.

“Photonis is proud to deliver its unrivalled technology to the Swiss Army and help safeguard their night operations,” said Frederic Guilhem, Executive Commercial Officer Night Vision at Photonis.

Photonis is the sole manufacturer in the European Union able to produce such state-of-the-art products in very large volumes.

"Photonis has been very successful lately, thanks to the trust of our customers and the Swiss Army Program is one of the largest we have recently been awarded".

More large size projects are expected to come in 2020 and to deal with these multiple large orders simultaneously, Photonis currently anticipates to increase its production capacity in both factories in France and the Netherlands in order to meet market demands paired with its high level of quality.
