Due to their low mass and high gain, electron multipliers are used in many nuclear physics labs and space applications to count electrons and charged particles in pulse mode operation. Typical applications include mass spectrometry, RGA, plasma analysis, Auger, electron spectrometers, SEM, FIB and leak detectors.
PHOTONIS offers two different types of electron multipliers: Open and Single Channel. Open multipliers are used in a number of mass spectrometry applications. Single channel electron multipliers are used in the detection core of many scientific instruments.

Spiraltron™ High Pressure Electron Multipliers |
Spiraltron™ High Pressure Channel Electron Multipliers are specifically designed for high pressure applications, such as portable mass spectrometers. It features a six channel structure which has been spiraled to optimally reduce ion feedback. The number of spirals per inch can be changed, resulting in a longer or shorter travel path.
