Time of Flight Detectors

The new High Mass BiPolar Time of Flight detector improves the detection efficiency of very high mass ions with significantly less complexity when compared to other high-mass detection solutions. It is ideal for Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time of Flight (MALDI-TOF) applications. The new PHOTONIS High Mass BiPolar detector features a large 250 mm2 collection area which allows for higher sensitivities without the need for higher post-acceleration voltage.

The new Gen2 UltraFast™ detector has been designed to reach speeds that are twice as fast as standard time-of-flight (TOF) detectors and is equipped with PHOTONIS’ patented MountingPad™ microchannel plates which use TruFlite™ MCP flatness technology for a significant reduction in time jitter.

The PHOTONIS Ultra-Fast TOF Detector offers a 2 micron pore size sensor for highest resolution. The Ultra-Fast TOF Detector produces pulse widths between 10 and 15 times faster than conventional ion detectors and 3 to 5 times faster than a standard Time-of-Flight detector. Ultra-Fast TOF detectors come in 18 and 25 mm sizes.

The PHOTONIS AP-TOF Detectors are the world’s most popular, offering superior levels of mass resolution and dynamic range. These detectors have pulse widths nearly 10-15 times faster than conventional ion detectors.

The PHOTONIS High-Temperature TOF Detector may be operated at up to 150°C and vacuum baked up to 300°C. This extended temperature operation range allows rapid chamber degassing and ultra quiet instrument operation.

PHOTONIS supports field portable mass spectrometry with a line of Mini-TOF detectors. These detectors have a flat input surface that provides a uniform ion conversion, while the higher aspect ratio of the 8mm MCPs provides gains in excess of 10⁶.

PHOTONIS BiPolar Time-of-Flight detectors are contained in a low-profile assembly integrating a high sensitivity microchannel plate and electro-optically isolated signal output. The patented detector features an ion conversion surface that may be biased up to + 10kV to enhance the detection efficiency of high mass, positive or negative ions.

Ultra-Fast BiPolar TOF detectors from PHOTONIS feature a narrow pulse width and fast rise time for superior ion detection in time-of-flight mass spectrometry. These products feature a high speed scintillators and faster design to double the resolution at low mass.

This unique detector was developed by PHOTONIS to give mass spectrometer instrument manufacturers an option to reduce the size of vacuum systems. This detector generates the ions behind the detector and launches them into a simplified reflectron lens.

Off-Axis BiPolar TOF Detectors have been designed for mass spectrometer instrument manufactures encountering space constraints within their internal design. This type of detector allows for a reflectron lens to be positioned off the primary ion axis and while still providing access to the primary sample.
